The photographer is Tom Mills and he is a graduate from Penn State University, where he studied photography.
Born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Tom always had an itch to head West. So in 1991 he quit his job as a newspaper reporter and sold most of his possessions, which wasn't much since he lost everything he owned in a 1987 fire.

He hit the road with a  few essentials, which included a camera, a mountain bike, a pair of skis, a kayak, a snowboard and a six-man toboggan.
He arrived in Park City, UT. in the Fall of 1991, and like so

He started shooting with a Nikon FM. He acquired a Mamiya 7 II medium format camera in 1999. He also had the good fortune of finding his dog Quest in the same year.
The mounting process is available in two methods. The first is "hinge mount." No glue is used and it's the recommended technique. It allows the photograph to stay in its original form while adding longevity and value to the print.
The second is "cold press" and causes the image to lie completely flat. However, this process can cause the print to breakdown prematurely.
The photographer does the majority of framing himself.
All photos are a numbered series. Once the maximum is reached, the image is sold out
and is no longer available.
Together they continue to photograph their travels. He uses mostly Fuji Velvia iso 50 slide film. This format allows for 30 x 40 enlargements while still maintaining a tight grain.
All prints are on Fuji Crystal Archival paper, known
for its longevity and color saturation.

many others, has remained in the area. He recently moved to Midway in 2006 and still lives there today.
The playful lifestyle that he enjoys so much has taken him to some inspiring places. His dog Quest, has traveled with him since he was a puppy and together they began photographing their travels.
Everything used in the mounting process is acid-free, right down to the ink used to sign the photos.

All images are available in a "mounted only" format, allowing for individual choice
in the matting and framing.
I hope an image has moved you in some way and remember:
